The Construction of New Railway Link at Barking Riverside

DESIGN, PROJECT DELIVERY, TESTING

Specification: 600mm stabilized layer using lime and cement with a 150mm stone protection layer. The brief for Envirobase technologies was to provide a stabilisation solution as an alternative to exporting muck offsite and importing stone. A significantly more environmentally friendly approach and making substantial cost savings.

A project update and thanks for all the assistance, design, inspections, and guidance provided by Envirobase Technologies to Morrisroe at Barking Riverside extension.

Design and construction of circa 8000m2 of haul road and 14000m2 of pile platform was in our scope of works to provide easily maintained and suitably tested access for all heavy plant such as piling rigs, 300T crawler cranes and PC Y beam delivery vehicle weighing circa 80T. From the outset we realised that we required the services of a specialist and luckily, we made contact and enlisted the services of Mr Alastair McDermid from Envirobase Technologies.

Many meetings took place to define and develop the requirements of the finished platform, testing visits and initial tests on the host materials, agree on platform alignment, construction programme and give advice on selection of reputable known soil stabilisation contractors.

The process from end to finish was seamless from design to construction to monitoring inspections and handovers. The guidance provided by Envirobase throughout the project was first class, always available to provide additional support when queries on site arose.

We have finished construction of all pile caps, pier walls, the final PC Y beams will be installed last week, the soil stabilised platforms have all held up and there were never any issues, so just a note to say thanks for all the hard work and help and I recommend Envirobase for any earthworks or stabilisation requirements.
